How I Got Started In Photography

Photography has always been a part of me. From an early age, I found myself drawn to capturing the world around me—whether it was the vast beauty of the sky, the playful energy of my animals, breathtaking landscapes, or the laughter of my friends. It wasn’t just about taking pictures; it was about preserving moments, freezing time in a way that allowed me to relive them over and over again.

I believe my love for photography was shaped by my childhood. My grandfather played a huge role in my life, and some of my earliest and most cherished memories are of him with a camera in hand. He was always documenting—recording home videos, capturing snapshots on disposable cameras, and ensuring that every special occasion and ordinary day alike were preserved. At the time, I didn’t realize how important those images would become, but now that some of the most significant people in my life are no longer here, I treasure those photos more than ever. They remind me of the warmth, the love, and the moments that defined my past.

As I got older, my passion for photography only grew. In middle school, I met my best friend—the person who unknowingly helped shape my journey as a photographer. She became my first muse, my go-to model, and my creative partner. Every time we spent time together, our hangouts naturally turned into spontaneous photoshoots. We didn’t need a professional studio or a grand location; we made magic wherever we were. Whether it was at the park, in our homes, during casual walks, or even inside Hobby Lobby, we found ways to turn ordinary places into creative spaces. She was always up for my ideas, no matter how random or unconventional they were. Those early experiences taught me so much about lighting, posing, and storytelling, and more importantly, they instilled in me a love for portrait photography.

For years, photography remained a beloved hobby—something I did for fun and as a creative outlet. I photographed friends, captured special occasions, and experimented with different styles. It wasn’t until 2020, when I met my fiancé, that everything changed.

On one of our very first dates, we went on a drive in his car. What started as a simple outing quickly turned into an impromptu photoshoot. That day was a defining moment for me—not only because I was doing what I loved, but because I had found someone who genuinely supported my passion. From the very beginning, he encouraged me to take my photography more seriously. He saw potential in me, even when I wasn’t fully confident in myself. And in a gesture that still means the world to me, he gifted me the camera that set everything in motion. That camera was more than just equipment; it was a symbol of belief, love, and the start of something bigger.

With his encouragement, along with the continued support of my friends, family, and incredible clients, I took the leap and turned my passion into a business. It hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge, every learning experience, and every person I’ve had the privilege of photographing has made it all worthwhile.

Photography, to me, is so much more than taking pictures. It’s about telling stories, capturing emotions, and preserving moments that might otherwise be forgotten. It’s about showing people how beautiful they truly are, helping them see themselves in a different light. Whether it’s a portrait session, a special milestone, or a spontaneous shoot just for fun, I pour my heart into every image I create.

Looking back, I’m endlessly grateful for the journey that brought me here. From my grandfather’s early influence to the best friend who sparked my creativity, and the fiancé who continues to believe in me every single day—each person has played a part in shaping the photographer I am today.

As I continue to grow and evolve in this journey, my goal remains the same: to capture authentic, meaningful, and timeless images that tell a story. And I can’t wait to see where this passion takes me next.
